Our VISION is of a school counseling program based on the belief that:
Every student has the right to participate in a school counseling program that acknowledges his/her worth, dignity, and unique qualities.
It is the responsibility of the counseling program to provide services that are accessible to students of every cultural background and developmental level.
Our counseling program will be aligned with a model of developmental student competencies for all students throughout their years at the Computer School.
Our counseling program will support every student’s ability to have access to the widest range of career and college options.
Our MISSION is to provide a comprehensive, developmental counseling program
to ensure that every student has the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve academic success, enjoy personal and social fulfillment, and have access to wide college and career options.
We know that middle school is a time of great change: growth, exploration--and sometimes confusion--for parents and guardians as well as for students. We are here to help families negotiate the challenges of middle school and we work to facilitate academic achievement, thoughtful, ethical behavior, and personal responsibility.

A COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL COUNSELING PROGRAM
is like a tool kit. It includes different tools--or strategies--for different situations.
Counselors use developmentally appropriate lesson plans to prepare students for the challenges they face academically and personally, and to help them consider factors that will come into play as they make choices about high school and look ahead to college and career. (Check out the sample lesson plans on the Goodies page.)
Counselors provide support through individual and small group counseling sessions for academic, behavioral, and emotional concerns. They also consult with family members. (Give us a call or email if you have any concerns you would like to discuss.)
Counselors examine data on student achievement to identify and address opportunity and achievement gaps, with the goal of removing obstacles to achievement for all students.
Counselors advocate for systemic change.
The counseling program philosphy can be summed up in two words:
